Nine of the top 50 richest towns in the nation are in the Bay Area. This according to a survey by Worth magazine. Silicon Valley town Atherton ranks second and Los Altos Hills is in fifth. Six others are located in Marin County.

The magazine´s annual survey is based on the median price for single-family homes during 2000 and 2001.
