Opening statements in Scott Peterson´s double-murder trial began today.

The prosecution showed the jury autopsy photos taken after the bodies of Scott´s wife Laci and their unborn son Conner washed up in the San Francisco Bay last year.

The prosecution has spent much of the day portraying Peterson as an unfaithful husband who gave varying accounts of his whereabouts the day that Laci went missing from their Modesto home in 2002.

Peterson could face the death penalty or life without parole if convicted in a case that is expected to last up to six months.
