Weekend Search For Mayo Provides No Leads
Strawberry, CA — A year has past and 65 year old Nita Mayo is still missing.
A weekend search of the area where the Nevada woman´s car was found abandoned last August turned up nothing, a result the family is unfortunately getting use to.
The clues have been few and far between since Mayo was reported missing August 8th, 2005. Reports indicate Mayo left her home around 10:00am on a Monday telling friends she was en-route to a “village” on the west side of the Sonora Pass.
On Wednesday August 10th her vehicle was found abandoned on Hwy 108, near the Donnell Visa Overlook. Since her disappearance, Mayo´s story has been spread nationwide by various network news stations and was even featured on a June episode of America´s Most Wanted.
Despite all of the attention to the case, local authorities have failed to provide any insight into the woman´s bizarre disappearance.
Speaking on behalf of her whole family, Mayo´s daughter, Tracy Mayo said Sunday that she is still dedicated and committed to continuing the search for her mother, and will not give up until they find her and take her home.
