Sonora, CA– Mother Lode Republican Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil praised the governor’s signing of Assembly Bill 30, bipartisan legislation she co-authored to allow the sale of E15 fuel across California.
E15, a blend of 15% ethanol and 85% gasoline, has been used nationwide for more than a decade and is known for reducing emissions and fuel costs. Before the bill’s passage, California was the only state that did not permit E15 sales.
“California is committed to bold environmental goals, but we can’t ignore the financial strain that families face,” Alvarado-Gil said in a statement. “The legislation offers much-needed relief for the hard-working families of my district, most residing and working in rural communities with difficult commutes.” Alvarado-Gil said the bill aims to balance environmental priorities with affordability, describing it as a “bipartisan approach” to lower fuel expenses while supporting cleaner energy.
“Californians regularly endure the highest gas prices in the country,” she said. “While this legislation eases the burden, there is much more we can and must do.”
