Columbia College Selects New President
Columbia, CA — Effective Jan. 1 Columbia College will have a new president.
Joan Smith will take over the reigns of the two year institution from Jim Riggs who´ll be returning to the classroom in a teaching capacity after serving as the school´s president for nine years.
Smith is currently the executive vice president of student learning at Ventura College. She has agreed to a three year contract that will pay her $150,000 annually.
Smith has a bachelor´s degree in anthropology, psychology and sociology along with a master´s degree in vocational rehabilitation and an educational doctorate degree in higher education.
From an original field of 59 applicants, Smith was one of three finalists for the position.
