CDF Officials Cut Back On Staffing As Fire Season Calms Down

Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA– Beginning Monday October 16th, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection will begin transitional staffing in the Tuolumne- Calaveras Unit.

Areas affected are Calaveras, Tuolumne, and eastern portions of San Joaquin and Stanislaus that are within State Responsibility Area. Fire stations in those areas that have two engines staffed during fire season will be down-sized to one engine.

All one engine stations will remain open and the two bulldozers and Helicopter 404 will remain staffed as needed. Officials say the air attack plane and two air tankers at Columbia Air Attack Base will go off contract.

Lastly, Baseline and Vallecito Conservation Camps will have normal staffing Monday through Friday, with a minimum of one crew at each camp on the weekends.
