Event Raises Money And Hope
Arnold, CA — This weekend´s event to raise money for Jason Knight, who was injured in a car accident last month, is being called a success.
Organizers say their fundraising goal was exceeded Saturday during an event in the parking lot of Big Trees Market. The community was invited for tri-tip, entertainment and raffle prizes, while a 5k run and 1.5-mile walk were held.
Exact numbers haven´t been tallied but more than 500 tri tip dinners were served and 3,000 raffle tickets sold.
The 14-year-old was riding his bike near Avery Middle School when he collided with a car. He was flown to UC Davis Medical Center where he remained in a coma for seven days. Knight is now recovering and has several weeks of rehabilitation left.
A fund has been set up in Knight´s name at El Dorado Savings Bank.
Another fundraiser sponsored by the Murphys Hotel, where Knight´s mom works, will be held this Saturday November 4. From 2 to 5 p.m. guests are invited to the hotel for an all you can eat spaghetti dinner. Proceeds will benefit Knight´s rehabilitation.
