Sonora Area Caltrans Worker Honored In Sacramento

Sponsored by:

Sacramento, CA — 42 state residents received the Governor´s Medal of Valor in Sacramento Tuesday.

One of the 42 was Jonathan Bevan, now a Caltrans maintenance superintendent for the Sonora area. It was 2am, January 20, 2004 that an SUV spun out of control on an icy patch of Hwy 38 near Onyx Summit in the San Bernardino Mountains. While two Caltrans workers secured a tow line to the vehicle´s axle, Bevan, now based in Oakdale, and another maintenace operater handled the snowplow that held the vehicle in check while the female driver was rescued.

The Governor´s Medal of Valor is the highest honor given to state employees for exemplary work performance.
