The Mother Lode Roundup Queen Has Been Crowned
Sonora, CA — Four young women competed for the honor of being the 2005-2006 Mother Lode Roundup Queen and although they all walked away with a variety of prizes, there is only one Queen, and that is Kim Silva.
The 22-year-old Columbia College student was crowned Sunday night in front of a packed room at the Elks Lodge.
1st runner up went to 16 year old Melissa Hankins who also won the speech award for her rendition of a Women´s role in the history of the old west.
2nd runner up was awarded to 23-year-old Summer DuPont who also received the miss photogenic award.
17-year-old Sonora High School senior Michelle Thornton was recognized for her award of miss congeniality.
A final farewell was given to last years reining Queen Meagon Middleton, who brought several people to tears during her speech.
Middleton thanked the Sheriff´s Posse and their wives for allowing her to join their family and she said she has confidence that Kim Silva will do an excellent job filling her shoes, or should I say cowboy boots.
