Burning Permits Required May 1st.

Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA — Effective 8:00am Sunday, May 1st, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection of Tuolumne and Calaveras County will require permits for all burning.

Hours for burning will be open throughout the day until burning conditions become more hazardous due to drying weather.

Unit Chief and Tuolumne County Fire Warden, Fred Mc Vay, reminds residents to be extremely careful when burning and follow all the conditions of their permit.

He also urges residents to complete all their burning projects early as fire permits are routinely suspended for the duration of the summer months when fire conditions become hazardous.

The CDF has provided some tips on fire safety.

One is to keep your piles no larger than 4 feet in diameter.

Another is to clear at least 10 feet to bare dirt in all directions around your burn pile.

Stay in attendance at all times with a shovel and a water source, and never burn on windy days.

CDF Burn permits and information can be obtained at your local CDF station.
