Amador CYA Fugatives Captured

Two fugitives from an Amador County firefighting camp operated by the California Youth Authority have been captured in San Jose. Frank Flores, 21, of Tulare County and Julian Vasquez, 22, of Santa Clara County, were arrested without incident overnight, two days after they walked away from the unfenced Pine Grove Youth Conservation Camp southeast of Sacramento. The Pine Grove camp houses 64 of the roughly 250 wards who perform public service work when they are not fighting wildfires. Typically about four wards walk away from the camps each year, but this week´s escapes took on more significance after authorities say a fugitive from a Stockton youth facility embarked on a violent multistate crime spree.
