Sonora Police Arrive At Accident Scene To Find Driver Dead
Sonora, CA — Sonora Police are investigating an automobile accident that happened on Mono Way Saturday.
Lt. Mark Stinson of the Sonora Police Department says officers received a call just before 2:00 in the afternoon reporting that a car had left the road and traveled into a pasture area.
Stinson says police and fire personnel arrived to find that the car had fallen into a large ravine and the driver was dead. Witness accounts indicate that the driver may have had a medical condition that caused the car to accelerate and drive off the road.
He says it is unclear whether the death of the driver was caused by the medical condition or the accident.
Stinson says a female passenger in the car was taken to Tuolumne General Hospital with a broken wrist and back injuries.
The identity of the driver is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
