San Francisco Man Presumed Dead After Going Over Falls

Yosemite National Park, CA — A San Francisco man is believed dead after he reportedly fell into the Merced River and went over the 320-foot Vernal Fall in Yosemite National Park.
Park officials say 24-year-old Chintan Chokshi was part of a group hiking along the Mist trail Saturday when he climbed over a steel divider near the water´s edge.
Officials say hikers are warned by signs not to go into the water. The Merced river is reportedly running about 80% above normal.
Officials say Chokshi´s body has not yet been found.
