Deer Breathe A Sigh Of Relief

Calaveras County, CA — Hunters who flooded the foothills over the last month have all returned home with the close of deer season last Sunday.
The state season officially began September 24 and ended October 30.
Calaveras County and parts of Tuolumne County fall in the D5 hunting zone, which is combined for tallying purposes with zones D3 and 4.
There are no totals yet for this year, but last year there were 33,000 tags made available in D3 through 5 through the state Department of Fish and Game.
Successful hunters must send their validated tag to Fish and Game within 30 days of their kill.
