Lewin Group Gives Supervisors Three Options For TGH

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Tuolumne General Hospital is facing a wide range on future options, from keeping things just as they are, to closure.

The Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors got a comprehensive report from The Lewin Group yesterday, which was commissioned to assemble the report to identify the challenges faced by the healthcare facility.

The solutions the group came up with were to:

A) Continue to run TGH as a Full Service Hospital.

B) To turn TGH into a Non-acute Facility.

C) To close all TGH services.

Each option was backed up with several pages of research and figures outlining the pros and cons of each.

Once the presentation was over, the board had a chance to express their thoughts and ask for clarification before the final draft of the report is due in mid December. Craig Pedro, of the County administrators office, says this is a fact finding phase not a decision making phase.

Pedro says there will be time for more discussion and public input in January. The Lewin Group is interested in getting feedback from County residents regarding TGH; comments can be directed to TGH.Future@Lewin.com
