Forecasters Issue Winter Storm Watch For Southern Sierras
Hanford, CA — The National Weather service is warning of the arrival of the first major winter storm of the season to the Southern Sierra Nevadas.
Forecasters say a strong pacific storm is expected to move onshore tomorrow afternoon, bringing with it heavy snow and gusty winds to the upper mountain elevations.
A winter storm watch has been issued for tomorrow afternoon through Friday morning from Yosemite to Kings Canyon.
Forecasters say most of the precipitation from the storm will fall tomorrow night. As much as two to three feet of snow is possible above 8000 feet by Friday morning.
Those traveling into the mountains are advised to be prepared for winter driving conditions, delays and possible road closures.
