Boxer Wants Gas Price Investigation
Senator Barbara Boxer says the Federal Trade Commission should investigate the current spikes in California gas prices — and implement automatic inquiries if similar jumps occur in the future.
At a news conference in San Francisco Sunday, Boxer said that when investigations have been performed in the past, gas prices have dropped. California has some of the highest gas prices in the country — and they have been rising recently.
Boxer unveiled a nine-point plan — including the immediate investigation by the FTC and the implementation of automatic future inquiries.
She also says the Department of Energy should release some oil from the nation´s strategic reserves. She´s says a similar move helped ease high home heating oil costs in the Northeast in 2000.
