Trial Date Set for Railroad Flat Pipe Bomber
A trial date in February has been set for a man who´s charged in connection with a pipe bomb blast that damaged a store and elementary school in Calaveras County over two years ago.
33-year-old Roger Brian Gibbings eluded authorities for almost a year before being arrested in West Point in July 2003.
The pipe bomb blew out a window at Railroad Flat Elementary, and damaged the front doors of the town´s general store.
A second suspect, 24-year-old Glynn Edward McNabb, Jr., from West Point, pleaded guilty to charges which include possession of an explosive device with an intent to injure, transporting a destructive device and entering an inhabited dwelling.
McNabb is serving an 8-year prison sentence for the bombing, and 16 months more for a burglary conviction.
