Tense Chase Ends in San Andreas; 2 Hurt
A police chase late last night, which started on Highway 99, went through Wallace, Burson, Valley Springs, and ended in San Andreas.
The California Highway Patrol reports they, along with Stockton Police and San Joaquin County Sheriff´s Deputies, were chasing 39-year-old John Maisel Junior.
Maisel was being pursued for suspected carjacking, hit and run, kidnapping, felony warrants and numerous other charges.
The San Andreas CHP took over the chase at Southworth Road, where the suspect was allegedly using both lanes and running numerous vehicles off the roadway.
The 93 Chevy Maisel was driving had already lost the right front tire and rim, and the left front tire had gone flat, when the CHP set up a spike strip at Highway 49 and Highway 12.
Maisel still continued into San Andreas, wher the CHP says he suddenly swerved left and hit a semi-truck head on.
Maisel received only minor injuries, and was taken into custody. He was airlifted Memorial North Hospital.
His kidnap victim was also airlifted from the scene for moderate injuries she sustained during the kidnapping and the collision.
Officers say Maisel faces numerous charges, including driving under the influence of methamphetamine.
