Calaveras Cannabis Club Ban Extended
The ban on cannabis clubs in Calaveras County has been extended after a unanimous vote on Monday by the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors.
Today, the Planning Commission will consider the first draft of a zoning ordinance that might allow the clubs in certain areas of Calaveras County.
Supervisors discussed an ordinance passed in 1996, which followed the passage of Proposition 215 which allows California patients with a doctor´s recommendation to use marijuana for medical purposes.
For now, supervisors have extended a ban on medical marijuana dispensaries for another 60 days, while they study the issue more and come up with a zoning ordinance that fits.
That ordinance needs to go before the Calaveras County Planning Commission first, and that´s scheduled to happen today.
