Sheep Ranch Fires Are Arson
In information just released by the California Department of Forestry… the cause of the Armstrong and Mineral fires in Calaveras County is arson.
CDF fire investigator Richard Imlach says a total of four fires were intentionally started in the area. The first of two small fires were started along Sheep Ranch Road about two miles east of the town of Sheep Ranch. They were contained at three acres and one acres.
These fires were immediately followed by two additional fires, the Armstrong and Mineral fires also started off Sheep Ranch Road.
Investigators believe the arsonist traveled a route that took them west on Armstrong Road then south on Sheep Ranch Road.
