Another Budget Proposal Dumped

A Republican budget plan has failed in a lopsided Senate vote. Democratic Senate President Pro Tem John Burton said the plan would cut too deeply into programs that help the poor, elderly and disabled. Lawmakers have been deadlocked for several weeks over how to deal with a deficit that could reach more than $38 billion.
