Sonora Apartment Fire Burns
About 10 Sonora Residents will have to find a place to sleep tonight, after part of an apartment building caught fire.
Resident Matt Madden called 9-1-1 when he saw the blaze at the Sierra Village Apartments complex on Greenley Road. “It was actually the bushes that were on fire,” he said. “And then it quickly spread to the back of the building and up the side.”
He said Sonora Police officers arrived first on the scene and came very close to putting out the blaze with fire extinguishers. “They were very prompt,” Madden said.
The fire spread into the roof and walls. Firefighters handled that. Fire officials say everyone made it out of the building okay. The exact cause of the blaze is under investigation.
