Winter Storm Watch In Effect
Be prepared for some winter weather starting this late this afternoon.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for the central Sierra Nevada mountain region and Yosemite National Park area. A potent Pacific storm is expected to shift into the Central California region later today and promises to bring significant snow fall in the upper elevations by tonight.
Snow levels are expected to drop to 5,000 feet overnight with snow fall totals of around 10-to-15 inches at the 6,000 foot level are expected.
Gusty winds 30-to-40 miles-per-hour with the snow fall will create hazardous winter weather conditions. Carry chains and other winter survival supplies in your vehicle if traveling on the mountain highways tonight.
