Sponsored by:

Humidity is up and there´s snow on the ground in the higher elevations, but fire season in the Mother Lode will continue for at least another week.

Tuolumne/Calaveras Unit CDF Fire Chief Richard Imlach says because the Mother Lode area is part of the CDF´s Southern Region – where the devastating fires burned – the official end of the summer fire season is being held off probably until this coming Monday.

Imlach says local fire crews and equipment are still in Southern California working mop-up operations on those killer fires.

Dollar loss and suppression costs for those Southern California fires has hit $2.2 billion.
