One Fatal In County During Holiday Weekend
Thirty-one people died in traffic accidents over the Thanksgiving holiday in California — an increase from the same period last year.
One person was killed in a solo crash early Sunday morning in Twain Harte. The CHP reports a car rolled over on Middle Camp Road at Kit Carson Road, killing the driver. Officers at the scene say the driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, resulting in the fatality.
There were a total of 16 accidents in the county over the long holiday weekend and 6 DUI arrests.
The CHP monitors drunken driving arrests and fatalities from Wednesday evening until midnight Sunday over the long Thanksgiving weekend.
In totals for the entire holiday period, California Highway Patrol officers arrested 1,515 people statewide on suspicion of drunken driving, up from 1,400 arrests last year over the same period.
