Bush Seeks Coastal Drilling

The Bush administration is urging a federal appeals court to overturn a court order halting proposed oil and natural gas exploration off California´s central coast. A federal judge´s decision last year blocked exploration and drilling on leases off San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties. Both sides argued briefly before the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco yesterday.
