Massive Dust Storm Fizzles

Sponsored by:

The threat of a large dust storm heading to the West Coast from Asia has turned out to be a bust.

The dust stirred up trouble for Korea and Japan and was expected to make landfall in the U-S by Wednesday or Thursday.

But atmospheric conditions over the Pacific Ocean caused the storm to essentially evaporate, although scientists say remnants of the storm made it to land.

It was just hard to see because it was already hazy and cloudy.

In the past, dust storms from Asia have made the skies sparkle over the U-S, making for spectacular sunsets.

Reports from China last week described a ghostly haze over Beijing that turned day into a yellowy dusk, with people covering their mouths to avoid inhaling dust.
