Half Dome Trail Slated For Repairs
Hikers with a hankering for an up-close Half-dome experience will need to plan their trek more carefully than usual this summer.
Yosemite National Park officials announced yesterday that the last half-mile of the popular summit trail to half dome will be closed for repairs starting in July.
Hikers will not be able to use that part of the trail from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday between July 8 and Sept 19 so repair crews can be the neccessary work.
The trail will remain open weekends.
National Park spokeswoman Deb Shweizer says stone steps in that section of the trail are deteriorating and in danger of falling.
The trail hasn´t been repaired since 1973.
