Sacramento Officials, Tennants Want Japanese Landlord To Reconsider Mass Evictions

Four Sacramento legislators want Japanese officials to intervene with a billionaire planning to sell hundreds of rental houses. Legislators are asking the Japanese ambassador and acting Consul General in San Francisco to help avert a local housing crisis. Japanese billionaire and developer Gensiro Kawamoto is serving hundreds of renters in Sacramento, Santa Rosa and Hawaii with 30 day eviction notices. Residents, government officials and activists want Kawamoto to give renters more time. The letter asks Japanese officials to appeal to Kawamoto to reconsider.
