Four Sacramento legislators want Japanese officials to intervene with a billionaire planning to sell hundreds of rental houses.
Legislators are asking the Japanese ambassador and acting Consul General in San Francisco to help avert a local housing crisis. Japanese billionaire and developer Gensiro Kawamoto is serving hundreds of renters in Sacramento, Santa Rosa and Hawaii with 30-day eviction notices. Residents, government officials and activists want Kawamoto to give renters more time.
The letter asks Japanese officials to appeal to Kawamoto to reconsider.
