CA Lawyer Gets Enron Case
A San Diego lawyer will lead the charge for big-time investors and individual shareholders collectively suing current and former Enron officials. Attorney William Lerach is representing the University of California Regents. The regents are suing for more than one billion dollars Enron officials gained in stock sales before the Houston-based company collapsed last year. A federal judge in Houston yesterday designated Lerach as lead counsel in a massive securities-fraud lawsuit against current and former Enron executives and directors. Lerach´s firm, Milberg Weiss Bershad Hynes and Lerach, is the law firm representing the
university system and Amalgamated Bank. The firm also stands to collect the most in attorneys´ fees for taking on the lion´s share of work in the case.
