As a heat wave prepares to hit the state this week, officials warn that power bills are expected to rise with the mercury. Temperatures are expected to hit 107 degrees in California´s inland valleys. The California Independent System Operator says prices have already started swelling along the Oregon border in anticipation. On Friday, prices were running about 19 dollars per megawatt hour. That compares to 300 per megawatt hour during the power crisis in late 2000 and early 2001.
