Californians Would Pay More For Security

Sponsored by:

More Californians say they would be willing to pay higher taxes to boost homeland security. A poll by the Public Policy Institute of California found a slim majority of California residents would agree to a higher sales tax to improve the anti-terrorism efforts of police, fire and public health agencies. While 52% of residents say they would support the increased taxes, 64% of city officials say a tax hike wouldn´t float in their area. The poll also found that people who live in cities with more than 100,000 residents are more likely to be worried about terrorism than residents of smaller cities.
