Forest Eases Fire Restrictions, Slightly

Sponsored by:

U.S. Forest Service officials are easing fire restrictions in regions of the Stanislaus National Forest, but not by much.

Acting Forest Supervisor Glenn Gottschall says as of Thursday they are lifting seasonal fire restrictions above the 6,500-foot level in moderate hazard area

Fire restrictions in lower elevation zones – between 1,250 and 6,500 feet elevation – remain in effect.

This means in those elevation areas no campfires or barbecues outside designated recreation sites and no smoking except within an enclosed vehicle, building or in a designated recreation site.
