Drug Testing Trend Not Popular For Students
A US Supreme Court decision this summer is fueling a hot new trend on school campuses, but it´s not one particularly popular with students. Since the justices allowed more drug testing, companies have been heavily promoting urine tests and drug-sniffing dogs to school officials.
The American Civil Liberties Union says about 5 percent of schools had been testing athletes under an earlier ruling. But more schools are considering urine tests now that it´s legal for student drivers and others participating in after-school activities. One Florida drug-testing company is even offering school districts a free trial of its services.
