Ski Areas Trying To Save Snow They Have

Sponsored by:

There´s no snow predicted for the upcoming Thanksgiving Day holiday, but Lake Tahoe-area ski resorts are taking heart that colder temperatures will help preserve what snow is on the ground.

A storm two weeks ago dumped up to four feet of snow at the higher elevations. And with snowmaking equipment, many resorts are maintaining the base they have. The resorts have been opening throughout the month, many ahead of the traditional Thanksgiving weekend opening.

While some white stuff from Mother Nature would be welcome, ski resort operators say they still have something to be thankful for. At least roads over the mountain passes will be open.
