Accused Cop Killer Fighting Extradition
Tehama County District Attorney Gregg Cohen says it could be weeks or months before a man accused in the slaying of a Red Bluff police officer is returned to California for trial.
Cohen said yesterday that Andrew McCrae of Olympia, Washington, is fighting extradition from New Hampshire. He was arrested in a Concord motel Tuesday after an hours-long stand-off with authorities.
McCrae is accused in the November 19th slaying of Officer Dave Mobilio, who was shot three times as he gassed up his prowl car.
McCrae allegedly posted letters on an San Francisco-based Web site Monday admitting to the slaying. The letters said he shot Mobilio to protest what he called “police-state tactics.”
McCrae was being held without bail at the Merrimack County Jail.
