Trucker Killed As He Cleaned-Up Spill

A Sacramento trucker was struck and killed by another truck as he cleaned up spilled cargo early Monday. CHP Sergeant Chris Homen says 60-year-old Patrick Fitzgerald ventured onto a dark roadway around 4:30 a.m. to pick up some steel bars that had slid off his truck. Another trucker was apparently unable to stop by the time he spotted Fitzgerald on the road.
