Victims Named In Sugar Pine Murder Suicide

Tuolumne County Sheriff officials have just released the names of the Sugar Pine couple dead in a pre-Christmas murder – suicide.

Lt. John Steely says the victims are Elaine Gail Morehouse and husband Tony Edward Morehouse. Both were 42 year-old.

Morehouse called 9-1-1 late Monday night telling dispatchers he had just shot his wife in the head.

Deputies arrived at the couple´s Middle Camp Road home to find the man with a fatal, single gun shot wound to the head. His wife was still breathing, but unconscious. She was later pronounced dead at Tuolumne General Hospital.

An infant, believed to be about 11- months-old, was found sleeping at the house at the time of the shooting. Steely says the baby was not the couple´s, but investigators have not said who the child belongs to. The baby is in the care of child protective services.
