Tax Cut Passed
The tax cut has been passed but it´s still being debated on the Sunday talk shows. On N-B-C, Senate
Democratic leader Tom Daschle called it “an exploding time bomb.” Congressional Republicans say it will give the economy a needed boost.
The
passage of the compromise tax-cut bill is a model for consensus-building between the two parties and is “only the beginning” according to Bush. The president
told supporters gathered at the White House that “tax relief is the right thing to do.”
Moderate Senate Democrats like incoming Finance Committee
Chairman Max Baucus say the tax package is more equitably distributed than Bush´s original plan. But many Democrats say the bill is skewed toward the rich
and diverts money from worthy programs.
