Attacks on Afghanistan

President Bush says today´s military assault on Afghanistan is aimed at the country´s Taliban regime. Bush
says Taliban officials were told time and time again to turn over terror suspect Osama bin Laden, and they refused. Now, he says “the Taliban will pay a
price.´´ A senior Pentagon official says today´s attack involves Tomahawk cruise missiles that are being launched from American and British vessels, including
American submarines in the Arabian Sea. This official says targets include air defenses, military communications sites and terrorist training camps inside
Afghanistan. President Bush says the military strike will be accompanied by the delivery of food and other supplies to help sustain the people of
Afghanistan.
