Prosecutors will not oppose moving Cary Stayner´s death-penalty murder trial out of Mariposa County.
District Attorney Christine Johnson says a new trial site is warranted. That was in her two-paragraph response to Stayner´s motion filed in August for change of
venue. Stayner´s lawyer had complained that Mariposa County´s 16-thousand residents could not be expected to produce an unbiased jury pool for such a
sensational, high-profile case.A hearing was scheduled for October 29th in Mariposa, where Stayner is charged with the February 1999 murders of Yosemite
tourists Carole Sund, Silvina Pelosso and Juli Sund.
