Annual Events Expect To Draw Big Crowds
October is full of fun seasonal events that attract big crowds and tourist dollars.
Angels Camp GOLD RUSH DAY is this Saturday, beginning at 11am. This year it has been 165 years since the founding of Angels Camp in 1848. The Angels Camp Commemorative Committee anticipates 5,000 or more people in Historic downtown and Utica Park areas. The street fair also features; Old west reenactments, live music, food and drinks, kids activities, and more. Highway 49 will be closed at Vallecito/49 past Utica Park and free shuttle buses will transport event goers from Brett Harte High School and the Calaveras Fairgrounds. The 5th Annual All Hallows Fantasy Faire begins at 7pm tonight with a Party Zombie Bash. The event is held at the Sonora Fairgrounds and runs both Saturday and Sunday starting at noon. Hundreds of visiting creatures and characters from fairy tales and Hollywood movies will be featured. For more information view the All Hallows event listing here.
It is the 27th Annual Sonora Toy Run, many motorcycles will participate in the AMA-Chapter #2466 sponsored ride. Bring one toy and one non-perishable food item to Jamestown and follow Santa on a 50 mile ride through the foot hills. The ride ends at the Mother Lode Fair Grounds (at the John Muir building which is not occupied by All Hallows) and features pulled pork sandwiches, Raffle Prizes, and Music. Don’t forget to check out the School Gym Rummage and Bake Sale at Mother Lode Adventist Junior on Forest Road in Sonora. Sunday is the elegant Joie de Vie Gala held at Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys.
