Tuolumne And Calaveras Counties Remain In The Orange Tier

Calaveras and Tuolumne remain in the Orange Tier of the State’s Blueprint for a safer economy but Stanislaus is finally able to move from the Red Tier to the less restrictive Orange Tier. The State released this week’s Blueprint update today with data for the week ending May 29th. Tuolumne County’s Case Rate decreased to 2.2, and the Test Positivity Rate is at 1.4 percent. Calaveras Case Rate increased to 6.5 with a Test Positivity Rate of 4.3 percent. The tier level system will go away June 15, reopening the economy with restrictions only on mega-events over 5,000 people indoors or 10,000 outdoors.

Tuolumne County — Tuolumne County Public Health reports two new community cases today, a woman age 30 to 39 and a woman age 40 to 49 who were not vaccinated. A total of eight cases are isolating including one who is hospitalized. Tuolumne County has a total of 4,177 cases split between 2,762 community cases and 1,417 Sierra Conservation Center (SCC) inmate cases, the California Department of Corrections reports no active cases. Total community cases released from isolation increased two to 2,685 total and the total number of tests administered is 99,569. The county reports 19,693 fully vaccinated residents and 3,725 individuals partially vaccinated.

Calaveras County – The Calaveras public health reports no new cases since yesterday with the county’s total COVID cases at 2,195. Active cases decreased two to five total and recoveries increased two to 2,134 total. No Calaveras residents are hospitalized with Covid. The total number of people over 65 years old identified with Covid is 453 since the pandemic began. Calaveras reports 35,146 vaccinations given and 44,114 Covid tests conducted.

You can also call 833-422-4255 if you don’t have an email (Mon to Fri 8 AM to 8 PM, Sat and Sun 8 AM-5 PM) for assistance. Vaccine eligibility is open to everyone 12+ (Pfizer) and 18+ (Moderna and Johnson & Johnson)  More information about the vaccines is here. Public health encourages everyone to get vaccinated to help keep you and those around you protected from Covid-19, as well as reduce the spread of disease in the community, and help get the county to a less restrictive tier. Employers and event organizers may ask if a person is vaccinated, individuals may decline to answer.

Testing – Sonora’s COVID testing is now at the Tuolumne Memorial Hall. The hours are Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 7 AM to 7 PM. The Groveland testing site remains open at the Youth Center, 18950 Hwy 120 on Thursdays from 7 AM to 7 PM. Due to low utilization and reopening of the youth center, this location will likely be relocated soon. Vaccines – Tuolumne is holding COVID-19 Johnson & Johnson vaccination clinic on May 19 in the Groveland area.
