Impacting Small Business
Sacramento, CA — A Mother Lode Senator will get a chance to influence economic development in Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties and the state.
District 14 Republican State Senator Tom Berryhill has been appointed to the Senate Committee on Business, Professions and Economic Development.
“Helping small businesses grow, opening up the job market, and improving the economic climate in California are absolutely key to the state’s continued climb out of the recession,” said Berryhill. “This gives me a great opportunity to become involved in legislation impacting our small businesses at an earlier point in the legislative process.”
The Committee oversees legislation related to business and professional practices and regulations. Berryhill was also named Vice Chairman of the Governmental Organizations Committee that regulates horse racing, public gaming, the National Guard, alcoholic beverages, management of public safety emergencies, and legislation permitting the use of state-controlled lands.
Berryhill also sits on these committees: Agriculture, Banking and Financial Institutions (Vice Chair), Budget, Human Services (Vice Chair).
