MLK Weekend Events
On this three day weekend, for some Mother lode residents, many events are planned.
On Sunday, January 19th, the Motherlode Martin Luther King Jr. Committee will present its annual and free birthday celebration. Event organizers say it will “honor and promote the ideas and ideals of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.” The keynote speaker will be Dolores Huerta, co-founder with Cesar Chavez, of the United Farm Workers. She will speak on Immigration and Social Justice. For more information view the event listing here.
On Saturday the 41st Annual 4-H Community Dinner & Cake Auction is from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Mother Lode Fairground. You can purchase tickets from 4-H members and at the door family tickets are pre-sale and dine in only. All proceeds benefit the Tuolumne 4-H Program for local youth. For ticket prices and more information view the event listing.
Also on Saturday the “Heav’n Fun Comedy for Missions” begins at 6:00pm at the Country Cowboy Church. Cecile Kaiser, a Christian Comedian from the Mother Lode, is helping to raise money for the Mission Team’s trip this summer. Ticket details are here.
The High Country Friends of the Library Fundraiser at the Twain Harte Golf Clubhouse was yesterday and continues today, ending on Saturday January 18th. The garage sale event will accept donations. For details view the event listing here.
