Tourist Numbers Are Strong In Calaveras
Despite the fairly dry winter, Calaveras County has seen a strong number of tourists over the past few months.
Lisa Boulton, Calaveras Visitor Bureau Executive Director, was Friday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
Boulton attributes the positive numbers to, tourists staying closer to their regional home, a good marketing campaign and a diversity of several activites offered throughout the county including camping.
“The bonus is that Bear Valley Mountain is now fully open for snow skiing and snow boarding,” said Boulton. “But otherwise, we’ve been seeing that people are taking advantage of our lower level activities offered throughout Calaveras including golf.”
Boulton works year-round to make sure that Calaveras is a part of a visitor’s choice, even with the past three fairly dry winters.
“I just came back from promoting Calaveras at the large travel show in Los Angeles,” Boulton said. “Now is our time to show that there are plenty of sights and activities that we are able to promote and market throughout the county.”
The new 2014 Calaveras Visitors Guide has just been printed and is now available. Locals are welcomed and encouraged to pick one up at the office in Angels Camp and discover a number of new activities for themselves.
