Arrest In Ricky Roberts Homicide
Sonora, CA — A Twain Harte woman has been arrested in connection to the death of Ricky Roberts.
Roberts, a former Police Department volunteer, was found dead in his Mono Way auto body shop on February 16th.
This morning, Sonora Police Chief Mark Stinson provided an update on the case. He said, “A Detective from the Sonora Police Department and a Sergeant from the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Department contacted Cheryl Lucero, 45 of Twain Harte, who was a person of interest in regards to the Ricky Roberts homicide investigation. Lucero was also an acquaintance of Roberts. During their contact with Lucero, Lucero admitted to her involvement in the Roberts homicide. Following the interview with Lucero, she was arrested without incident and booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for homicide. Bail has been set at one million dollars.”
The Police Department would not expand at this point in regards to how Roberts knew Lucero. It is also unknown if there are any additional suspects tied to the murder.
Chief Stinson notes that a search warrant was served at Lucero’s residence yesterday, and evidence collected was sent to a crime lab in Ripon for forensic analysis.
