Sidewalks, Gutters And Paving
Sonora, CA — Initial paving will be done in November on the Mono Way Project, but the finishing touches may have to wait until spring. Concrete and paving will be the focus of crews on the Mono Way Widening Project for the next couple of weeks according to Sonora City Engineer Jerry Fuccillo.
Fucillo laid out the plan for the next week with crew installing steel railings on the south side of the roadway by the new retaining wall. Concrete curb, gutter, drainage, and sidewalk work will continue on the north side of Mono Way between Roselyn Lane and Fir Drive.
As reported last month, Fuccillo stressed that paving of the roadway may have to be pushed back until spring. He now says one layer of paving will be done in November. “This will only be, basically, the first lift of the paving, but it will become a drivable area,” says Fuccillo. “I do think the finishing work on the main over lay will be delayed by weather until the spring, but I think December you’ll have actually a drivable five lanes.”
The paving work will be done at night on November 4, 5, and 6 from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. each night between Greenley Road and Fir Drive. During the night paving work, westbound Mono Way through traffic will be detoured at Fir Drive to Sanguinetti Road after 9 p.m. Eastbound traffic will be closed to through traffic at Rogers Road from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. and traffic should detour to Sanguinetti Road at Greenley Road.
